Catherdral Window and Secret Garden Hanging

Before Christmas, I started working on a hanging at the Oswaldtwistle Group.  The hanging has a Cathedral Window centre - but they arent the original ones - they are made out of elongated triangles.  So far, I have added the centres and I am busy working around the Secret Garden units.  This is a photo of the centre so far.  The fabric is from Anthea at 'Quilting Antics, unfortunately the photo doesnt do justice to the colours as they are lovely and vibrant.  Will post a photo when it is completed - which I am hoping wont be long!  I have also finished the quilting on the random quilt - just the binding to add now :)

Random Quilt

I have been quilting the Random Quilt that I started quite a long time ago!  The quilt should have been quite a bit bigger than mine but to be honest I had just had enough of it so decided to make do with the blocks I had.

The blocks were finished and sewn together and the quilt was layered up last summer - as you can see from my last post where it took me years to quilt the sampler quilt, this is quite an achievement.  I have now done most of the quilting - just the 'Attic Window' and 'Storm at Sea' blocks to quilt, binding to sew on and as the saying goes - 'jobs a good en!!!!!!'

Mission 2012

As some of my close friends will know - 2011 ended on a very sad note for us as a family.  My one and only brother Ian died very suddenly in December - and obviously we miss him enormously.
However, out of every sad thing, there has to be a good thing - so one of the things that I have decided to do this year is to finish all the projects that I have started over the last few years and not start anything new - not sure about the not starting new projects, but will see how it goes!!!!!

Over three years ago, I started to make a sampler quilt with the Oswaldtwistle group and even though I finished the blocks and layered it up on time it never got any further - until now!
This really isnt a good photo - but it is proof that I have quilted and finished one thing from a very long to do list!

I have decided that I am going to give it to my mother-in-law for her birthday, I hope she likes it :)

We also got an addition to the family at Christmas - this is our puppy Meg, who obviously cannot replace Ian, but she certainly makes life easier, we absolutely love her to bits.  On this photo she was watching me quilt - but unfortunately she didnt find it very interesting.

I am determined to finish off my UFO's, and I will try and share a bit more of my progress, I am currently quilting the random quilt that I have also done at the Oswaldtwistle group [this has only been layered up since before Christmas], and will hopefully be finished over the next couple of weeks.

Busy, busy, busy - here is block 3!

Since I have finished City and Guilds, I can now stitch for pleasure, so therefore I am grabbing the opportunity with both hands [well it would be rude not to, wouldn't it??????]

Anyway, this is block 3 [sorry about the quality of the photo], again there is an border to go around the bear and the heart blocks but I am going to do those when the blocks are stitched together.

Happy Stitching!

Block 2

This is the second block from 'The Button Club', which is a mystery quilt by Lynette Anderson.  Their is a little border to go around the snowman and the heart blocks, but I thought I would wait until I have sewn the blocks together and then I get it in the right place!

I have got the buttons from Fobbles, a lovely patchwork shop in the lakes, click here to go their website.  I also bought the fabric from there and I love the choice of colours and fabric.

I have just received pack 4 in the post, so my mission this week is to get up to date with them.

Random Quilt

I have been working on this random quilt for what feels like forever, but finally today, I have finished sewing it together, attached the border and got it layered up [with thanks to the very special ladies at Lesley's Quilt Group in Oswaldtwistle - couldn't have done it without you!].

All I have left to do now is quilt it and add the binding, so I am hoping that this wont take too long!

Sorting Out Time

Although no pictures [because I would be too embarrassed to show them], I have started to sort out all the stuff I have collected from eight years of doing City and Guilds - I can't believe some of the things I have kept just in case they would come in handy!  Well, alfter loads of trips to the wheelie bin [thank you Andrew], I don't feel I have made any impact at all!  Oh well, it will still be there tomorrow - so may get a little bit nearer and then I may be able to do some sewing!!!!!
